Jeff
Fender 1959 Thin Skin re-issue Stratocaster (American)
An impromptu visit to Guitar Village in Farnham saw me fall in love with a Strat that was not originally Jeff.
Originally there was a sunburst strat that I liked a lot and procrastinated about purchasing. fter a few weeks I went back to find the original Guitar had been sold. I was devstated and angry at myself and cursed my procratinating ways. It was however at this moment that it was mentioned about an Olympic White version of the 59' Thinkskin I had originally desired, so i tried it and promtly went home with it...
This Strat was better, it felt better, it played better. It was just BETTER!
The Fat 50' PUs were weak and that meant that Nuance was a lot more achievable. The Nitro-cellulose laquer was quickly worn away through use and abuse and has a well played and worn look about it.
The bridge is set up floating so that the G string can go up a minor third when fully lifted (a la Carl Verhayen) and the strings I use are D'Addario 11-56 at normal tuning (EADGBE).
